How does Smecta® work?
Smecta® is an oral formulation of pharmaceutical clay indicated in the treatment of acute diarrhoea in both adults and children above 2 years old, and the symptomatic treatment of digestive pain and chronic diarrhea in adults. The active substance in SMECTA® is diosmectite, a natural clay processed and purified for therapeutic use.
How to use Smecta®
Smecta® for adults
Smecta® is used orally. The contents of the sachet or pack should be diluted in a glass of 50 ml of water and taken orally.
The average dosage is 3 sachets per day. Depending on diarrhoea severity, the daily dose can be doubled (6 sachets) at the start of the treatment.
Smecta® for children of 2 years and above
The contents of the sachet can be added and thoroughly stirred in the feeding bottle with 50ml of water, to be given at intervals during the day, or thoroughly mixed with a semi-liquid food: broth, stewed fruit, mashed vegetables or baby food.
4 sachets per day for 3 days, then 2 sachets per day for 4 days
